Gas is easy to find by breaking down old cars so fuel isn't too much of a worry, but finding the parts to assemble one can be difficult. Minibikes are the most effective way of getting away from a horde in 7 Days To Die without having to drain ammo or hoping you don't run out of sprint before you can get far enough away. Gunning down the horde might be a good last-minute option, but it often breaks through guns quickly and drains ammo. Both of those options aren't very appealing, as death is, well, death, and it would be difficult to get back to the body to retrieve their inventory with the horde still being there. Without a solid base or a fast getaway, players have to either die or pump hundreds of rounds of ammunition into the horde to thin it down enough to get away.
